When it's all roses, portrait poses.

When Abigail reached out with this sleek and simple idea for a studio session I was beyond elated. While the backdrop and outfit for this shoot were quite simple, I knew that her beauty would be more than enough to bring interest to these photos - which they certainly did! Abigail has such natural and effortless beauty which translates on camera stunningly - I mean, look at those freckles?

Outfit Selection

The main outfit choice was a black suit. The oversized fit of the jacket and tailored pants provide the right amount of balance between borrowed-from-the-men's-department while not overwhelming her frame. She styled it with a matching-coloured bandeau inside. We were able to pop off the jacket for some shots to add variety. In some shots, Abigail wore blue fringe beaded earrings which added a nice pop of colour and complimented her eyes. We ended the session with an oversized men's black coat - compliment's to Abigail's boyfriend and some simple nude heels. This choice worked perfectly for some fun shots featuring wine in a glass.

Props

For props we used two different chair options, one black stool and a grey/black chair, which both offered separate posing opportunities. To capture a few feminine and soft images I chose to incorporate a simple white rose for some close up shots. We also incorporated a glass of wine paired with the oversized jacket for some playful shots.

Studio photography is quickly becoming a favourite of mine. I love playing with my studio lights and having the ability to manipulate them to achieve the look I'm going for. There are endless opportunities with the addition of props and with outfit choices.
